free ice cant load my music

this frontend is fantastic, i had been using frodo for a couple of years and thought it was time to upgrade, this is so much better.
2 questions......
I have freeice installed but can't get it to pick up all of my music at the same time, if i go into configuration settngs and define a seperate folder it works fine but if i back up a level it does nothing... so 'd:\music\direstraits' works but 'd:\music' gives me nothing. could this be to do with the amount i have in there?(well over 8000 tracks) or is it to do with the way they are filed =music folder\artist\album\ .

and

i have no gps software and was looking for a recomendation for the uk and eastern europe. as cheap as possible while still being legal please!

solved

i broke it all down into sub folders, one for each letter of the alphabet. seems to work fine now.
