Suggests for FreeICE

Hi guys! 1st of all, I wanna thank you CdR, for your excellent works: your latest project it's the best idea for carputer frontend software. However, I think some improvements could be made to this. You have proposed a good start for customization, bur using customized icons could be more fun and make it more usable. Also, for people that see slow performances, you could make the ability to enable/disable animations in sections... Thanks a lot for your patience reading... happy Easter and have fun with FreeICE!!!

Hi! Believe, it´s impossible, because Freeice is a frontend based in Flash. All animations are frames. But I try, in my next skin, make one without animations, only change screens. I doubt if this work more fast in a PC, because the movie have a minor number of frames, but system resources are the same. Other alternative is update your XP to SP3, this is much faster (50% most) than SP2.

Hi kingofdevils, thanks for the reply and Happy Easter! I've got no problems using FreeICE, it's not slow at all on my PCs, but some people seems to have this problem. My personal suggestion was the ability to change icons for the main menu, that I believe is possible to do in real-time in flash.

PS: Your tip about SP3 is welcome, I'll try it in these days.Thanks

if you try SP3, I recommended to you make a backup of all your important files, I believe in Sp3 versions, the installation must be clean, from 0. Much people has encountered problems installing over the previous versons. Is a suggest only

Hi guys... I've got a few questions about FreeICE... here we go

1) It's possible to edit the icons on the bottom of the FrontEnd (the player controls)?
2) My preffered nav software won't start with this. I know this is a simply call (maybe shelleexecute?) from VB, but iGo 2008 won't start at all. Any suggest?
3) It's normal that FreeICE is taking over 350 MB when browsing picture folder with only 50 pictures? My selfmade frontend in VB6 won't take more than 100 MB using an array of picturebox loading this files.

Aww... I forgot: when playing some Divx and going to the next movie from the bottom bar, the slider won't respond anymore. Maybe this occurred only to me, maybe some movies are not slideable (as this frontend use WMP as media player).

most people who had problems were idiots, SP3 requirement was that SP2 was installed beforehand. You can't just go from SP1 or no SP straight to SP3 as there WILL be crashing...

Hy guys... well, I talked about FreeICE speeds only to take the MiT thread (see in FreeICE main section). Actually, I've noticed no speed issues or something. The only things I would know is how to make it more "personal"... already changed icons with a deviantart iphone iconset ... but dunno how make more mods. The relative "bug" in pictures section it's not really a bug, only a fact... otherwise, I noticed that in a folder with over 100 big sized pictures, not all are viewed... U noticed this also?
