After what seems to be an eternity and loads of help from Ashgrovered, I have finally finished my first proper skin.

Obviously it looks best at 800x600 but it is usable in CdR's RAD skin although the proportions aren't quite right.

There is one bug where the map screen won't respond to respond to touch after exiting from the gpsconfig screen. This is a FD issue I think. However, if you click on the map size icon the screen refreshes and the touch facility returns. One other thing, the number of speedcams wasn't displaying on my laptop when I took the screenies. It was displaying ok on my carpc so hopefully you shouldn't have a problem.

I've tried to keep it fairly simple with the screens and menus having pretty much the same appearance. I've stretched the map to get rid of the map zoom slider but you can change the skin.ini if you need to show this.

Ash has kindly put the skin in the downloads area. Have a go and let me know what you think. If there is anything major that needs changing let me know and I'll see what I can do.

I've fixed the cams not showing, just a little prob with the ini. I've also tweaked a couple of other things while I was at it.

All you need to do is replace the speedcam line in the skin.ini with this:

speedcam =720,0,80,48,2,Trebuchet:B,36,000000,00ff00

It would be a good idea to do the sat line at the same time to keep the displays balanced on the screen. Change the sat line to this:

sat =-5,0,80,48,2,Trebuchet:B,36,000000,00ff00

Also, you might want to reduce the text size of the speed to 54 as it was cropped at the edges on the carpc. Your new line should look like this:

speed =340,-12,120,80,2,Space Age,54,ff0000,ff0000

so in addition to the type mismatch when pressing the skin button, i get the same error when i press "search by" in the address screen. this then causes a lockup.
and the third thing i have trouble with is the number of cams in the top right hand corner doesn't always show. i've done the above mods to the skin.ini. i'm not sure but i think this happens when the number of cams exceeds 100.

Hi mate, I've just replied in the other thread about the skin prob. I had no issues and it worked fine. Which version of FD are you running?

I've just tried the Search by function and again I have no problem. I'm still thinking that maybe there is a problem with your version of FD.

Thirdly, wow, that's a lot of cameras! There are two ways around this. First is to reduce the size of the font or change the size of the label. I'd be hard pushed to find 100 cameras where I live but I'll tinker with the ini settings for you and post up a replacement line.

Teamcba, here you go. Change the co-ordinates in the speedcam line to 655,0,140,48,1

This should sort out the issue, I can't test it but this should be enough to display 3 digits. If not widen the box by increasing the width figure 140 and reduce x position figure 655 by the same amount. You might want to slightly adjust the sats to balance up the look on the screen as the cams readout is now closer to the edge of the screen to allow the extra digit in without obscuring the cams text.

Looking into the type mismatch problem, i found that by removing the pixelmask line from the [skinandmap] section i could then use that menu, and the same for the [searchby] section. It seems to not like the letter parts of the hexadecimal number.

Aha! Regarding the mismatch, I think you need to update your FreeDrive exe with the one Ashgrovered released a few days ago. This addresses the pixelmask issue and you'll have the menus displayed as boxes rather than the sphere as in your screenie. Have a look at the first post in this thread and download the FreeDrive zip file. The pixelmask codes work fine on both my laptop and carpc so I reckon its the older version of FD that's the problem.

I also see you've been doing some tweaking to the skin to get the eta/etr etc displayed. If you want I can edit the psd's to accommodate these. I don't use eta/etr etc as they are already in CdR's RAD skin for RR. Let me know if you want me to add these in and I'll knock something up. I could add in a couple more spheres for eta and etr and change the text layout a bit.

Hi, yeah i saw that thanks, i'm running 1.0 preview with the april update (1.03?)

oh yes, we have a lot of cameras around here, the most i've noticed at any one time is 148! if you remember the other post, there was 9 cameras in 1.5miles.
